Meet Amanda R. Nettles

Amanda R. Nettles is a board-certified Physician Assistant specializing in cardiovascular medicine. She currently practices at Champion Heart and Vascular in Oxford, North Carolina, where she provides comprehensive care for patients with coronary artery disease, arrhythmias, heart failure, peripheral artery disease, and venous insufficiency. Amanda performs advanced diagnostic evaluations and therapeutic interventions, including vein ablations and transarterial microembolizations, while also educating patients and families on long-term cardiovascular health.

Prior to this role, Amanda trained extensively in the Cardiac Intensive Care Unit at UNC Health in Chapel Hill, where she managed critically ill patients with heart failure, cardiogenic shock, and myocardial infarction. She gained advanced procedural skills such as central line, Swan-Ganz catheter, and arterial line placement, and managed patients requiring mechanical circulatory support devices. Her early clinical experience also includes emergency medicine and cardiothoracic surgery support at Duke University Hospital.

Amanda earned both her Doctor of Medical Science (2025) and Master of Physician Assistant Medicine (2024) degrees from the University of Lynchburg, where she also held leadership roles with Students Without Borders, coordinating medical missions to underserved communities in Oaxaca, Mexico. She holds dual undergraduate degrees in Business Administration and Communication from North Carolina State University.

Her clinical training spans multiple specialties, including cardiology, neurosurgery, internal medicine, women’s health, wound care, pediatrics, and general surgery. Beyond her academic and professional work, Amanda has volunteered at the Free Clinic of Central Virginia and served as a pediatric cuddler at UNC Children’s Hospital.

She maintains active certification with the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA), as well as Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), Basic Life Support (BLS), and Adult Mental Health First Aid.

With a strong foundation in both patient care and leadership, Amanda is passionate about advancing cardiovascular health, fostering patient education, and bridging gaps in access to medical care.
